Latest Sermon

Each week our pastor presents a challenge straight from the Scriptures.  It is our prayer that every message heard will both bless and challenge those hearts who receive it.  There's nothing like being here in person to experience worship together, but when we are unable to, we are thankful to have worship available live and archived on both Facebook and Youtube.

We Stand By Broken Hearts.

HONEA PATH FIRST BAPTIST is a place where people can meet Jesus, believers can engage in life-giving community, and everyone is welcome.  We believe in creating a space where people can have authentic encounters with Christ, discover their gifts and use them for Him.  Join us for our Sunday services!

Meet Our Pastor                                                   Doctor Josh Phillips

Thank You for choosing to visit Honea Path First.  It is a privilege to pastor such a loving and kind church family.  At HPFBC Jesus is our message.  People are our mission.  Love is our method.
I look forward to meeting and serving you in the future.
Administrative Committee Meeting
4/15/2025
  • Austin Kyle reported that we are currently under budgeted allowance for cleaning of the church.
  • Wednesday night suppers are still being evaluated.  Attendance has been down over the last few weeks.
  • Kurt Tavernier reported that the budget is in good shape.  The letters for budget requests will go out in May and should be returned by June 1.  The goal is to have everything in place by the September quarterly meeting.  Some CDs will mature in October.
  • Contributions for Fifty for Faith and Family are up though tithing is down.  The golf tournament raised $15,282 with a profit of $13,628.96.  We are almost at the three-million-dollar mark!  We are next in line with the architect. As soon as his current project is completed, he is coming to HPFBC!   It is exciting that we all are helping make this a reality 😊
  • The chiller is in and the total cost actually came in under the amount allocated.  There will be a programmer coming next week in order to check the controls.  Clarification is needed to ensure ease of operation.
  • During the last wind storm, several shingles were blown off of the roof.  Contacts have been made to correct this problem.  The area around the steeple will also be checked.  There is a leak at the GA closet.  Updates will be given as this process moves forward.
  • The Duke Energy bills for the entire property are in excess of 3,000 per month.  In an effort to minimize costs, Darrell will be asked to check the settings in the Pavilion and Vault buildings  regularly to make sure that money is not wasted to cool/heat unnecessarily.  His willingness to help us reduce costs is greatly appreciated.
  • The playground area still has a lot of debris from when the trees were removed.  When you see the area free of limbs, rocks, etc., thank one of our youth students!  They have volunteered to work in this area on the last Wednesday of April.
  • If you have a sprayer and are available May 2nd at 11:30, come join in with other volunteers to spray the parking lot and rid it of grass and weeds.  Thank you in advance for your help.
  • The following updates were given on the soccer field:
  • Brian Ashley got the bid for this project.
  • The plans are still progressing, but there are a lot of specifics that must be addressed prior to breaking ground.
  • There are plans for a pickleball court at the rec center on the horizon.
  • Trustees will conduct a thorough walk through of our building to discuss maintenance concerns. Updates will be provided after this occurs.  It is their goal to maintain our current facilities by planning needed maintenance.
  • Many thanks to Kurt Tavernier for finishing the minutes of this meeting.
  • Discussion was raised by Eddie Martin regarding the use of potentially unused space in the existing building after construction.
  • Discussion was raised by Eddie Martin, Brad Hughes, and Melanie Hahn about Sunday School attendance and utilizing outreach.
  • Discussion raised by Jim Jones about Good Friday/Easter services and music.
  • Eddie Martin closed the meeting in prayer.
