Jamie Williams

Associate Pastor of Youth and Singles

My name is Jamie Williams.  I grew up in Sumter, SC.  God used my family and the influence of a youth pastor to lead me to surrender my life to Him.  During High School, my youth group and FCA were major tools God used to help me grow in my walk with Him.  During the college years, I spent my summers serving at different churches as a youth intern.  In my senior year at Winthrop, I found myself still struggling between being a teacher/coach or a vocational minister.  It was during that final semester that I decided to take a step of faith and pursue the ministry.  As a result I enrolled in SEBTS to pursue a master’s of divinity rather than working on a master’s in education.
Following seminary, I accepted a ministry position at FBC Moncks Corner.  I spent over ten wonderful years ministering to some of the greatest teenagers I have ever met!  After Moncks Corner, I served at FBC Hampton for a little over four years as their pastor.  I am very grateful for the many special blessings and community impact I was able to witness while serving there.  Currently, I am serving the Youth and College ministries here at Honea Path FBC.  I love it here and have been blessed over the last nine years to be surrounded by a church full of extremely gifted children/youth and sincere adults who are seeking God’s will in many special ways.  I have recently returned to school and completed my Doctorate Degree.  This has been a big blessing to me as I prepare for the second half of my ministry.
I love to gather and worship with the church.  It doesn’t matter to me if Fanny Crosby or Elevation Worship wrote the song; if it allows me to express my heart, faith, and surrender to my Lord, then let’s sing it to the best of our ability!  I love the word of God and I love to proclaim all of its love, truth, and instruction.
I love exploring the community and getting plugged in to any place the Lord may lead so that I can meet people outside the church and discover ministry needs.  It is my prayer that the Lord will use these encounters as a beginning to someone’s salvation story.
I am married to Heather Williams, whom I met while serving at FBC Moncks Corner.  She is a CSU grad in Early Childhood Education, a daughter of a Worship Pastor and has a love for music and worship.  God has blessed us with two wonderful daughters.  Joy is in the Class of 2024 and Ann Louise is in the Class of 2027.  Joy enjoys soccer, music, and friends.  Ann Louise enjoys cooking, music, and friends.  We are licensed to foster and although we are currently taking a break, we look forward to beginning this ministry again in the future.
I have felt called to preach the Gospel since I was sixteen years old and I have always been glad to do it anywhere the Lord allowed.  I do not mind preaching it after a football practice, during a Kiwanis Club meeting, over lunch, at a school district meeting, in the sanctuary, or in the youth area.  I have happily served as an Associate Pastor and as a Lead Pastor.  My past ministries have blessed me with many experiences that mean very much to me.  I have seen ministry in many settings, as well as from many points of view.  I believe all of these experiences continue to presently prepare me to serve the Lord in new and fresh ways.
